The battles are, as usual, awesome, but I wish there had been more of them, and less focus on the quirks of alien civilizations, which lack nuance, and remind me of science fiction from decades ago such as the Lensman series. There are also some patently hilarious moments, including a fun jab at his main character's gun-toting, incongruous covers (the Admiral never once holds a gun!). Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely, but readily admit that a large part of my enjoyment was due to an abiding love of the series and Hemry's writing in general. I'm continually impressed by his ability to write fun, exciting action which does not require de-activation of higher brain function to enjoy. Hollywood blockbusters could learn a lot.Francehttp://somuch2thank4.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7358414648594181405.post-63603691187852941042012-05-02T21:20:23.327-05:002012-05-02T21:20:23.327-05:00i hdan't seen this before, it sounds really go...i hdan't seen this before, it sounds really good!Carrie at In the Hammock Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01496016097652195216noreply@blogger.com
