My book beginning this week is The Typewriter Girl by Alison Altee @ 2013. This was a bonus book from the Dear Author contest I won. (See last weeks post.)
Here is the beginning:
"It is very important that you should learn the key-board so thoroughly that you can see it with your eyes shut, and can strike each letter without the least hesitation.
-Mrs. Authur J. Barnes, How to Become Expert in Type-writing-
Type-writer girls, they oughtn't think too much."
Thanks for sharing that opening! I've been curious about this title but I can't remember if I've added it on GoodReads or not...Anyway, hope you enjoy it! Have a happy weekend :)

My computer teacher in seventh grade believed in that. She forced us to practice typing by covering our screens, hands, and facing our heads to our right. If you dared to look at the keys, you got detention.

I never learned to type properly at school - how I wish I had !
ReplyDeleteGreat choice - love the cover.
I have been wanting to read this one...I definitely remember those typing lessons. I'm so thankful for computers, with the ease of "correcting" errors!!
