Musing Mondays, August 5, 2013

Musing Mondays (http://shouldbereading.wordpress.com/) asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
MusingMondays5• Describe one of your reading habits. •
Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
 • Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
•Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
 • Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

I just cannot resist those free and .99 books.  I don't even have to go looking for them.  I get emails from authors, from Amazon, and from Barnes and Noble.  A great description, a look at the cover and of course the offer for free or .99 is front and center in the email.  I have so many there is no chance I will ever read them all.  That is unless I quit getting any more books for at least a year.  To make it even worse I still have a TBR pile of books I have accepted for review or books that I have purchased.

Help!! Do any of you have the same problem?  Do any of you have a solution?  Let me know.

  1. I love free or .99 cent books. I am the same way, with a never ending TBR pile that will take forever for me to get to read all, lol. However I still cant resist getting a good book for a deal!

  2. Hi,
I usually have a wishlist that I update from time to time with new titles and usually I manage to resist promotions and only buy the books on my wishlist.

Here's my Musing if you'd like to read it.

  3. I did it more in the past, but got it under control now to a degree. Like Betty Ford once said, you have to learn to just say NO! lol

  4. I got many of those when I first got my Kindle but I did some serious culling and now I only get the ones I'm convinced (84%) I'll read.

    Have a good week.

  5. Fortunately, I love the free physical books from the library so much more than e-books that I don't download them very often. I'll only download an ebook (even a free one) if it's something I've already been wanting to read or a review copy that really catches my attention.

  6. Between my Kindle freebies, the library and what publishers send me, I will never have to buy a book again. Um... well except last night, oh and last week... Yup, serious book problem.

  7. I wish I could restrain myself to just freebies or 99centers.

  8. Thanks for stopping by my Muse! I think that everyone loves a great deal and at .99 cents or free it's so hard to tell yourself no....my solution just set a dollar limit like $5.00.

  9. I think we got the same problem, too many books - most are for free! and i'm still getting around to finishing some of them.. sometimes it takes me a week before I post my reviews.. somehow, my solution is to make sure that I have a theme when reading books, and insert one or two or three ARCs so that my TBR list would be lessened.. incidentally, that's my musing for this week :)

  10. I think all book lovers share the same problem, don't you think? It's so hard not to add anything on to your TBR pile. And yes, those free and cheap books with great descriptions are definitely must-haves! No, I'm afraid I don't have a solution. I used to actually stress about it, but over the years I've just learned to accept that it's one of those things I'll never be able to catch up on, unless I stop adding titles to my TBR list, which there's no way I'm going to deprive myself of! :P

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
