Musing Monday, January 5, 2014

MusingMondays5Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…  Musing Mondays is sponsored by Should Be Reading.
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

How many of you have trouble with spam comments on your blog?  I used with word verification when I first started my blog, disliked it on other blogs so removed it.  Spam started appearing so I went back to word verification.  Still did not like it so recently I went to comment moderation.  I like that much better.  What I noticed as soon as the word verification was removed was how often I got spam.  The last few days I have removed quite a few comments pushing some drug.  They show up on older posts; never the current post.  I wonder how many blogs they post the same comment on.

  1. Wordpress is better with spam though. Till then, keep verification on!

  2. I use Wordpress and have never had any spam get through-the filter system is really good about catching everything.

  3. I have noticed them lately, but I don't know if they show up in the comment post or not. I haven't checked lately.

  4. I haven't had too much trouble with spam lately. Once in a while a comment appears, but it's been pretty fine so far.

  5. I have wordpress and it does a pretty good job of getting the spam. I do have comment moderation for the ones it misses. It works well. Sometimes I have a lot, sometimes not.

  8. It comes and goes. I removed the word verification because it frustrated my readers and discouraged comments. What I have is comment moderation set for posts older than 14 days. It's almost always the older posts that get hit.
