Remnants of Trust by Elizabeth Bonesteel
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Things are not going well on the Galileo. After all that happened in The Cold Between I was looking forward to how events would proceed in book two. There is a lot of action and build up for the next book but I was a little disappointed as I felt the book just wandered around and never came to the point. Commander Elena Shaw and Captain Greg Foster are back. There was no conclusion here. Nothing was solved but there were hints about things to come. Like many book in the middle of a trilogy it was not as good as the first book but did leave me wanting to read book three.
Bound Together by Christine Feehan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Bound Together is the story of Victor and Blythe. Married five years ago and apart ever since. Now Victor is about to finish his assignment and take down the leader of a sex trafficking ring. As luck would happen that will be in Sea Haven where Blythe lives. There are some very entertaining moments in this book. Victor and his gang are missing some boundaries and that leads to laugh out loud moments when they intrude during inappropriate moments. This also introduces the next group of characters who will find HEA. Torpedo Ink is the motorcycle gang lead by Victor. It has 17 other members all who need their own story. The first book in that new series comes out soon.
Second Watch by J.A. Jance
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
J.P Beaumont is finally having the knee replacement and as he comes out of surgery the drugs are playing tricks on his memory. We get to see him on his first days as a detective on a case that was never solved and take a visit back to his tour in Vietnam. As a result he opens a cold case and looks up the fiancée of his Lieutenant who was killed and did not come home. All of this is woven around his recovery from the knee replacement. One of the really fun characters in this book is the retired nurse who he hires so he can get out of the hospital. She is one of a kind and is his match. That cold case seems to be solved but something is just no right and just when you think the book in ending it takes off in a new direction.
