Short and Sweet Book Reviews # 164 - The Bad Boy Cowboy by Kate Pearce, The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman, Holiday Wishes by Jill Shelves

The Bad Boy Cowboy (Morgan Ranch #4)The Bad Boy Cowboy by Kate Pearce
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

HW is the last Morgan brother to come home. His past is still haunting him. I liked how he finally gave up information that left him feeling free. Samantha Kelly is a new character to the series. She has injuries from her time in Afghanistan and is still recovering from a romance gone wrong in the past. The two are like oil and water. Pearce does a great job with the dialog between the two. There were some very serious issues that the characters were dealing with but there was a very good balance between humor and serious. I was laughing through much of the book. A nice addition to the series.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library, #1)The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked the world building, back story and character development in The Invisible Library. What I did not like was the person reading the book on Audible. Her voice reminded me of fingernails on a chalkboard and took some getting used to. Irene and Kai are sent to get a book from a different reality. Nothing goes as planned. There is plenty of action, tension, twists and turns and betrayal. It is a wonder that all ends fairly well and Irene get something that sets up the next books in the series.

Holiday Wishes (Heartbreaker Bay, #4.5)Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sean O'Riley and Lotti Hartford have a history. Ten years have passed since they parted and now their roles are reversed. A nice Christmas story featuring the tension between Sean and Lotti. This time it is Sean who wants happily ever after and Lotti who does not trust Sean to deliver. A great setting and characters. The plot is familiar but enjoyable. If you are looking for a nice Christmas romance this one might be for you.
