Book Beginnings on Friday, May 25, 2012

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include  include the title and author so others know what you're reading.

I just got the ARC of Dream Lake by Lisa Kleypas from Amazon Vine this week.  This is book 3 set in Friday Harbor (from  the trilogy of the same name) and is Alex's story.  I started it late last night and so far so good.  Here is the beginning.

"The ghost had tried many time to leave the house, but it was impossible.  Whenever he approached the front threshold or leaned through a window he disappeared, the some of him dispersing like mist in the air."

The ghost is a new addition to the series and this makes me wonder what part he plays in Alex's story.

  1. I haven't heard of this series, but it sounds quite interesting. Sounds like that poor ghost is trapped there, though! Thanks for dropping by earlier.

  2. Haven't heard of the series, but a ghost that can't pass through doors, that's a good thing I guess. Hop on over if you have the time:

  6. ...what kind of ghost is this? I was under the impression that ghosts made it a habit of disappearing and dispersing whenever and wherever they pleased. Interesting.

  7. Hmmmmm . . . I love Friday Harbor -- the town in Washington -- but I am not keen on books with ghosts. Do the other books have ghosts?

Thanks for taking part in Book Beginnings!

  8. This is the only one with a ghost. It was a big surprise when the ghost was at the very beginning of the book.

  9. Hmmm. So, I guess the ghost is tied to a certain place. I wonder how the ghost fits into the story?

    Thanks for stopping by mine!

  11. A very nice beginning. Gets you interested right away. I assume it is not a scary ghost story?

  12. JC, this actually sounds pretty interesting. I don't know what the rest of the series is like, but this ghost's dilemma has my interest.

  13. I am sympathetic already . . . Sounds like he's haunted by the people or the house, rather than the other way around, which is a clever twist.

    Thanks for sharing (and visiting!).
