Teaser Tuesdays May 1, 2012

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.
My Teaser Today is from Redshirts: a Novel with Three Codas by John Scalzi.  I received an ARC from Amazon Vine last week.  Redshirts is schedule for a June 2012 release.  For those of you who don't know anything about this book it is Science Fiction.  On Star Trek if you wore a Redshirt you were an extra and would probably die when you went on an away mission.  Scalzi takes that fact, twists it a lot, and runs with it; thus the title Redshirts.

Here is the teaser from page 60:

Redshirts: A Novel with Three Codas"It's about my away team experience, and it's about the fact all of you disappear whenever Q'eeng shows up, and it's about the way people move away from him whenever he walks down the corridors, and it about that fucking box, and it about the fact there;'s something very wrong with this ship."

"Like if someone died with Kerensky around everyone else would be safe if they stuck with him," Dahl said remembering McGregor."
