Short and Sweet Book Reviews # 95 - Lucas by Delores Fossen, Trust and Treachery by Charissa Dufour, Sit...Stay...Beg by Roxanne St. Claire

LucasLucas by Delores Fossen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fosse uses her familiar theme in Lucas. There is a baby, a woman with a past and a lawman. This time it is a Texas Ranger. Lucas and Hailey have to work together to keep their baby safe. The danger comes from Hailey's past and it is very real. There are gun fights, bodies, danger, and tension as the two try to keep the past from destroying their lives. A nice addition to the Lawman of Silver Creek Ranch.

Trust and Treachery (Echoes of Sol, #1)Trust and Treachery by Charissa Dufour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bit is at the center of Trust and Treachery. She is an indentured servant who is won in a poker game. Her new home is a freighter crewed by a group of rowdy, ungentlemanly merchant marines. She has suffered abuse in the past and has to work hard to make a place for herself in this world of men. I loved her character. There is much more to her than meets the eye. In a trip filled with danger she manages to contribute to the fight with pirates. There is tension and danger as well as great scenes as Bit learns to interact with the crew. This is book one in the Echoes of Sol. It was free on Amazon and I liked it enough to buy the next book in the series. Free books do pay off for the author.

Sit...Stay...Beg (The Dogfather, #1)Sit...Stay...Beg by Roxanne St. Claire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wanted a feel good story and Sit..Stay..Beg looked like it would fill the bill. It does have some very good characters, several of whom are dogs. The two main characters have known each other before. In fact Jessie Curtis spend a lot of her younger years at the Kilcannon home and always wished that she was part of the family. She comes back to interview Garrett Kilcannon and the result is surprising. I liked the characters, felt that the secret was a little contrived, but enjoyed the ride to the finish Lulu the dog often stole the show and in the end all got a happy ending. There are many Kilcannon's still to find their HEA so this series has a long way to go. Read Sit...Stay...Beg to get in on the beginning.
