Interesting surprise

Save Your Breath (Morgan Dane #6)Save Your Breath by Melinda Leigh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A nice addition to the series. Morgan and crew are trying to find Olivia who has been abducted. Along the way they run into other crimes that they solve. Olivia on the other hand was much harder to find. It too Lance's mother to put them on the right track. By that time it was almost too late. Look for a nice ending as the two finally tie the knot.

First in the Series

Kill Game: A Cold Poker Gang MysteryKill Game: A Cold Poker Gang Mystery by Dean Wesley Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A nice novella length mystery that includes all the elements that make a good mystery. The Cold Poker Gang are all retired police and spend part of their time solving cold cases. This cold case is dear to Detective Bayard Lott ( it was his first case as a detective) and to Julia Rogers (the victim is her husband). They discover more than they thought one slim lead takes them to another. There plenty of action, many surprises and the start of a little romance. Fun read and perfect those times you want something you can finish in a short time.

Murderbot Still Has It

Network Effect (The Murderbot Diaries, #5)Network Effect by Martha Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Murderbot does not have friends only associates and this time some are captured and an old associate needs help. So Murderbot to the rescue. Off course it does not go as planned and the rescuer becomes the rescued. I love Murderbot and was thrilled that this time it is a full length book. The action is wonderful fun, there is tension, and living in Murderbot's head kept everything interesting. There is a nice set up for more stories featuring this interesting characters so stay tuned.

Classic Jodi Thomas

Breakfast at the Honey Creek CaféBreakfast at the Honey Creek Café by Jodi Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A new town and a new series from one of my favorite authors, Jodi Thomas. She writes interesting characters and fun towns. Honey Creek is no exception. Piper Jane Mackenzie is the mayor of Honey Creek and she loves the town. Colby McBride shows up to help her find her out with a problem. They are just two of the fun couples who are part of the story in this first book. This is a easy read that is perfect for this time of life. Book two comes out next year. I will be sure to pick it up.

New to Burning Cove

Close Up (Burning Cove #4)Close Up by Amanda Quick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Vivian and Nick are two who have unusual talents. They come together when someone hires a hit man to kill Vivian. Great story line and I loved how Vivian and Nick played off of each other. While you think you know what is going on there are some surprises in store of you the reader and also Vivian and Nick. Nice addition to the Burning Cove series.

Realistic

One Perfect SummerOne Perfect Summer by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You never know what you may find when you take a DNA test. Serenity Alston found two half sisters. This is the story of the first summer they got together. A nice tale. All three have problems and all three find the support they need to face those problems. There is not HEA even as I called it a romance. There is a realistic ending as the summer ends and they go back to the lives they left behind. Each find a solution during that summer, a solution that fits them and the problems.

Easy Fun Reading

Guard: Dark Guard / Cyborg Guard (Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone, #5)Guard: Dark Guard / Cyborg Guard by Anna Hackett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a nice mix of easy to read stories. The first one was originally published in Pets in Space. The other two are original to the series. One is from the past before any either of the Houses were established. The last gives a lead up to the next book in the series. Easy and fast reading. Fun to visit and a nice read in this time of staying home.

Series End

Queen: A Chronicle of the Sibyl's WarQueen: A Chronicle of the Sibyl's War by Timothy Zahn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Queen is the end of the Sibyl's War at least the war to take back the ship. Small spoiler (Nicole Hammond takes on another war at the end of the book). A fitting end to the series. We get to know more about the ship and why only humans can do repair work. How it came to be so deadly for Sibly's and how to win a war little by little and being very underestimated. Nicole, Jeff and the crew face tension, danger, betrayal, and death as they fight to make the ship whole again.
