Book three

Fair Exchange (Amsterdam Institute, #3)Fair Exchange by R.Z. Held
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sienna has a dead Pax Romana spy's implant into her head when she is sent on an exchange where she was not expected to survive. The plot revolves around what she does to survive. The world building was incomplete as it was expected that I had read the first two books. This is book three but set 100 years in the future. All in all an enjoyable story but it was missing elements that would have made it better. Interesting characters - especially the near-AI.

Good Ending

Summer at Lake Haven (Haven Point, #11)Summer at Lake Haven by RaeAnne Thayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Last of the Haven Point books we get to see most of the characters from the past and attend the wedding from the couple in the first book. That brings us to the main characters in this book. The brides brother from England and the designer of the wedding dress. The two know there is no future for the two of them but of course things work out. There is tension and romance as the two are thrown together. Nice ending to the series.

No Incentive to Continue

Orb and Arrow: Book I: ExplorationOrb and Arrow: Book I: Exploration by V.L. Stuart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There is a lot going on in the book but for me it never went anywhere. It is exploration and our two main characters do a lot of that. Along the way. there is danger and adventure but I never saw a goal. They just wandered and met different people. Entertaining but no incentive to read the next book in the series.

They Belong Together

Love and Other Perils: A Regency Novella DuetLove and Other Perils: A Regency Novella Duet by Emily Larkin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What do a Liberian and a Scientist and a solider and the daughter have in common. They each have the main role in a novella in this book. The solider and the daughter have a very messy adventure. The Liberian and the Scientist find they have a lot in common. It just takes a few pages to see that each belongs with the other. Fun stories and easy reading. Something we all need in this troubled time.

The Past Returns

Fleet ElementsFleet Elements by Walter Jon Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Martinez and Sula are thrown together 10 years after the last book in the series. Once again they work and defeat the enemy but at great cost. While the battle is a large part of this story line the relationship between Martinez and Sula is again center stage. Things look great for the two but there is another player who can really change the relationships and destroy both. How does it end. Badly.

Shy!!!

Say Yes to the Duke (The Wildes of Lindow Castle, #5)Say Yes to the Duke by Eloisa James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Viola Astley is shy and retiring or is she. Mix up love at first sight with a big mix up between the characters (who belongs with who). This is a romance filled with fun and tension. Loved the play and how Noah responded to his role. Really like how Viola found her voice and was not shy at all.

We find out more about Atlee as she returns to the place where she was injured and her twin taken. A lot happens as she sifts through the past and comes up on the future. Deep Ops

Broken (Deep Ops #3)Broken by Rebecca Zanetti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Turns out Wolfe is not as broken as he thinks. It just takes the right person, a dangerous man, and some quality time together to convince him. This has it all: a great set of characters, a interesting plot, a real villain, hard to put down tension and of course romance. I love the Deep Ops group. They just keep winning while everyone tries to shut them down.

Welcome to Donovan

UnreconciledUnreconciled by W. Michael Gear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Donovan still has stories to tell. This time the cast of characters includes some new comers. Some good, some not so good, and some that remain a mystery. Love the action, hate when someone I really like dies, and find the plot to be interesting and different. This is one story Donovan has to tell but there are more waiting as the story ends. Welcome to Donovan.

Typical of Middle Books in a Trilogy

Queen of the Unwanted (The Women's War, #2)Queen of the Unwanted by Jenna Glass
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting but typical of the middle books of a trilogy. There is a lot going on as more is revealed. The characters are more fully developed and the world building is more complete. The action is there to get everyone in place for the next book. Nothing is really settled. Just awaiting the next book in the Women's War series.

Kill Game: A Cold Poker Gang MysteryKill Game: A Cold Poker Gang Mystery by Dean Wesley Smith

A nice novella length mystery that includes all the elements that make a good mystery. The Cold Poker Gang are all retired police and spend part of their time solving cold cases. This cold case is dear to Detective Bayard Lott ( it was his first case as a detective) and to Julia Rogers (the victim is her husband). They discover more than they thought one slim lead takes them to another. There plenty of action, many surprises and the start of a little romance. You never know what you may find when you take a DNA test. Serenity Alston found two half sisters. This is the story of the first summer they got together. A nice tale. All three have problems and all three find the support they need to face those problems. There is not HEA even as I called it a romance. There is a realistic ending as the summer ends and they go back to the lives they left behind. Each find a solution during that summer, a solution that fits them and the problems.

Queen is the end of the Sibyl's War at least the war to take back the ship. Small spoiler (Nicole Hammond takes on another war at the end of the book). A fitting end to the series. We get to know more about the ship and why only humans can do repair work. How it came to be so deadly for Sibly's and how to win a war little by little and being very underestimated. Nicole, Jeff and the crew face tension, danger, betrayal, and death as they fight to make the ship whole again.

Works

Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic PainPain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain by Pete Egoscue
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I used their method almost 20 years ago when I had plantar fasciitis and it worked wonders. I am much older now and I have done something that is causing knee pain. The book contains E-cises that are designed to get your body back in alignment and stop the pain. They worked for my feet and they are working for my knees. They do take a lot of time as you have to hold certain positions for up to 45 minutes but this is much better than surgery or drugs. Check the book out if you are experiencing any type of chronic pain.

I am reposting this.  In January I hurt my hip. I could not walk without pain.  My knee started hurting because of the way I was walking.  I used Pain Free again and it worked.  It is not quick.  It took weeks but if you are having any type of pain this is a good way to make it go away.  Since you are housebound you have lots of time to do this.

Veronica Speedwell and her colleague Stoker are relaxing when a request comes in that sends them off on another adventure. Veronica gets to know another of her relatives and quite likes him. All of this is with Veronica, Stoke and the relative in great danger. Set at the same time as the Jack the Ripper crimes there is a lot of history in the background of the story. This was a nice conclusion to a problem from a previous book. More and more people know who Veronica's father is. It just keeps coming up and causing trouble. Oh!
