Surprise

The Ultimate Betrayal (Maximum Security #3)The Ultimate Betrayal by Kat Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Full of twists and turns Jessie Kegan is determined to clear her Father's name. Enter Brandon Garrett, her brothers best friend and now her bodyguard. They both think that is all he should be but of course than ends up falling by the wayside as they run from danger. I guessed who the bad guy was early in the story. That did not keep me from continuing to read a story that was hard to put down. Great addition to the series.

Great Visit

A Fool's Gold WeddingA Fool's Gold Wedding by Susan Mallery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nice Visiting Fool's Gold again. Abby and Joaquin are an interesting couple. They just fit until something comes up that changes that. Great story line and I loved both Abby and Joaquin. Really liked how Abby emphases her job as a teacher. They get so little credit and they are so important. Adds to the story.

Still Missing Previous Plot Line

Who Speaks for the Damned (Sebastian St. Cyr, #15)Who Speaks for the Damned by C.S. Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While it is good to see Sebastian and Honor again I hoped for more about Sebastian's background. Of course if you follow the series you know his Mother is alive and well in France but that is in a past book and that story line seems to be dropped. The mystery is entertaining and the solution satisfying. Both Sebastian and Honor are featured and some of the side characters make an appearance. There were several surprises that added to the enjoyment of the story.

Predictable and Fun

Claim of Eon (Eon Warriors #6)Claim of Eon by Anna Hackett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second Commander Airen Kann-Felis is one of the few female Eon warriors. Donovan Lennox is the new human on board her ship. Of course the sparks fly especially when they are sent on a special mission together. Predictable but fun. This series has a lot going for it. There is tension, danger and romance all wrapped up in a very nice package.

Look For Some Good Laughs

Soccer Mom (Killer Moms, #1)Soccer Mom by Eve Langlais
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carla and Philip are meant for each other they just do not realize how much they have in common. It all comes together when Carla'a son is threaded. This is a double edged threat. One from the past and one who pop's up in the present. Carla is confused and Philip is being kept in the dark by his employer. What is the mystery. I had no trouble guessing and enjoyed being right. Fun read with some laughs that are very important right now.

Danger and Loss

The Relentless Moon (Lady Astronaut #3)The Relentless Moon by Mary Robinette Kowal
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found this to be slow to start but going a mile a minute once it did get going. Set at the same time as the book about the mission to Mars this is totally about the Moon. Some do not want the space program and they have resorted to violence. The story follows Nicole Wargin as she tells in the first person about who, what, when and where the danger is coming from. There is danger, tension and lost as once again one of the Lady Astronaut's does what needs to be done even when it is hard.

Sandara has a past that she just will not let go but now she has a new chance at a good life. Ivokk is the leader of the expedition to their old home world. Sandara is the one who checks the samples to find out why some of the Southern tripe are passing out. Plenty of attraction, danger and tension in this story. Also a big surprise brought on danger. Good story.

Slow, Slow, Slow

Divergence (Foreigner #21)Divergence by C.J. Cherryh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The twenty-first book in the Foreigner saga continues the adventures of diplomat Bren Cameron. Once again Bren is In the middle of the action. The problem - there is little action and a lot of in the head thinking and remembering. This was just a slow read - I think I said the same thing about book twenty. I waded through the story and will continue to read the series but I do hope it get more interesting.

Book three

Fair Exchange (Amsterdam Institute, #3)Fair Exchange by R.Z. Held
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sienna has a dead Pax Romana spy's implant into her head when she is sent on an exchange where she was not expected to survive. The plot revolves around what she does to survive. The world building was incomplete as it was expected that I had read the first two books. This is book three but set 100 years in the future. All in all an enjoyable story but it was missing elements that would have made it better. Interesting characters - especially the near-AI.

Good Ending

Summer at Lake Haven (Haven Point, #11)Summer at Lake Haven by RaeAnne Thayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Last of the Haven Point books we get to see most of the characters from the past and attend the wedding from the couple in the first book. That brings us to the main characters in this book. The brides brother from England and the designer of the wedding dress. The two know there is no future for the two of them but of course things work out. There is tension and romance as the two are thrown together. Nice ending to the series.
