Great New Series

A Gladiator's Tale (Leonidas the Gladiator Mysteries #2)A Gladiator's Tale by Ashley Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leonidas and Cassia just keep getting better. I loved where Leonidas day dreams children and who they will look like. Again there is murder and revenge is at the heart. Just seemed that the villain was unexpected by all. Great series, waiting for next book.

Typical Is Not Bad

Trouble In Big Timber (Mills & Boon Heroes) (Cardwell Ranch: Montana Legacy, Book 5)Trouble In Big Timber (Mills & Boon Heroes) by B.J. Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ford and Hitch meet because of an old flame of Ford's. They have to find out if Ford is being used to get away with murder. Along the way there are some interesting characters who work with and against them. This is typical of B. J. Daniels stories. Lots of action, tension, danger, and a background romance.

Must Read for Fans

Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory (The Murderbot Diaries, #4.5)Home: Habitat, Range, Niche, Territory by Martha Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Told from the viewpoint of Dr. Mensah, this follows her as she tries to readjust after almost dying. Murderbot is a side figure in this short story. It does fill in a gap between books. A must read for Murderbot fans.

Timely

The Galaxy, and the Ground Within (Wayfarers, #4)The Galaxy, and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While this is Wayfarers #4 you can start reading here as this series is very different. In fact all four books can stand alone. I loved the story line but did have a hard time with how to navigate the story. I kept skipping action and having to go back and find what I missed. And I did not want to miss any part of the story. This is about perceptions about people and what happens to those perceptions when you are thrown together. A good story for this time. We need to go past perceptions and find out who people really are.

Difficult Ending

Transient Desires (Commissario Brunetti #30)Transient Desires by Donna Leon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Commissario Brunetti is at it again. What seems to be a simple turns out to lead to a much more serious. It is fun to travel with Brunetti as he goes from interview to interview. Information that leads to a serious crime starts to unravel as he talks to person after person. Loved th story, hated the ending.

Forgetable

The Bodyguard (Norcross #4)The Bodyguard by Anna Hackett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not much to this one. Lots of sex. Reads a little like a reverse Megan and Harry story. White princess and black bodyguard. Entertaining but not one to remember. Mind candy.

Some Success

Last Guard (Psy-Changeling Trinity #5)Last Guard by Nalini Singh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Payal Rao is the perfect Psy or is she. For Canto Mercant, family and loyalty are everything. Surely they cannot be a match but of course they are. The two are fighting to save the Psy-
Web and it will take everything they have to find any measure of success. This is just a well plotted tale that moves the story line along. While Payal and Canto do find some answers they is still a long way to go for the Psy to survive. Love those bears. They add some humor to the story.

Forgiveness Required

A Proposal for the Unwed Mother (Twins of the Twenties #2)A Proposal for the Unwed Mother by Lauri Robinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Some secrets just have to escape. For Jenny it escapes when Conner shows up at the door. There have been many secrets in the story line. There is also a lot of forgiveness if they are to be together. Set in the 1920's there is also a history mixed in with the plot. This is classic Lauri Robinson. I am a long time fan.  Missed the first book so plan to go back and read.

Looks vs. Intelligence

The Duke and the Wallflower (The Unwanted Dukes Book 1)The Duke and the Wallflower by Jessie Clever
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A clever use of the importance of looks vs. intelligence. Lady Eliza Darby has one but not the other. She does not expect to ever marry and she so wants children. Then Dax Kane comes into her live and all changes. There is a lot of tension and mistrust between the two and it takes the entire book to get them to their HEA.

Who Did It

Undercover Duke (Duke Dynasty, #4)Undercover Duke by Sabrina Jeffries
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sheridan Wolfe, Duke of Armitage and Vanessa Pryde are made for each other but both think the other is not interested in any romance. Then throw in the mystery of who killed the previous Dukes and thing just get out of hand. Nice conclusion to the series. I did know how did it long before any of the character's got a clue.

Could Not Wait

Guild Boss (Ghost Hunters, #14)Guild Boss by Jayne Castle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great return to Harmony. Still the alien influence and the danger they left behind. Our two main characters (0h wait, three with the dust bunny) find plenty of danger and added tension as they try to ignore the attractions. Love the new world building. Harmony still has surprises. Does not come out until July I just could not wait after I got the ARC. No spoilers.

Surprise

Shadow (Alien Castaways #4)Shadow by Cara Bristol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mandy Ellison has moved to Argent, Idaho where our alien castaways live. Shadow is one of the first aliens she meets and it is attraction at first sight or is it. Something is missing and it is changing how they interact. Shadow needs a mate and Mandy would like to apply but something is missing. Great story and mystery about the two. Loved the ending. A surprise that took time to spring on us the readers but worth the wait.
