More to Come

The Russian CageThe Russian Cage by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lizbeth Rose is back and off on another adventure. Eli is in trouble and she travels to the Holy Russian Empire to save him. Along the way new and old characters play a part in the story line. There is tension but not as much as I expected. I enjoyed seeing Eli's family and watching Lizabeth interact with both high and low members of the government. All is well that ends well so that is true for this part of the story. More to come so we will see what happens next.

More Black Jewels

The Queen's Weapons (The Black Jewels #11)The Queen's Weapons by Anne Bishop
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It is always fun to visit the world of the Black Jewels. This has all the elements the series is famous for. The action fits the characters and the world they live in. There is not a lot of romance here, there is a lot about raising teens when their Father is the most powerful man alive. That drives the action and the tension if often over the top. I found myself wanting to yell just do what is right. Did not help.

Flat

The Vineyard at Painted MoonThe Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Never did catch me. The characters were flat. The plot was like many others except that it too was flat. There was a lot of information about wine and growing the grapes to make wine. That was not enough to excite me. I saw what was going to happen before it did so some satisfaction that I could out guess the author

NIce Tension

Courage Under Fire (Silver Creek, #2)Courage Under Fire by Lindsay McKenna
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I like Linsay McKenna's books but always wish for a little less force in the focus. This time it is women's rights; a very timely topic. Carissa Taylor needs to hide and Chase is just the one to hire her. His ranch is perfect until the unthinkable happens. Nice action and tension to keep the story going. I want to see what else happens in this valley.

A End to the War

Debt of War (The Embers of War, #3)Debt of War by Christopher G. Nuttall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kat and William work to end this war. The surprising information from the end of the last book leads to the two working together again. Plenty of danger and tension with a satisfying ending. I do wonder if we have seen the last of these two as they take off on a five year assignment.

Great Romance

Guardian Mate: A Starhawke Sci-Fi RomanceGuardian Mate: A Starhawke Sci-Fi Romance by Audrey Sharpe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brendan and Libra are important characters in the Starhawke series. They show up with some back story but nothing that tells how they met. Guardian Mate tells that story. It is part serious and part fun. This part of their story ends with the Mating Ceremony. Knowing what I know now I need to go back and re-visit their actions in the main line books. Great addition to the series. Waiting for the next book so Audrey you need to keep writing.

New Series

Deal with the Devil (Mercenary Librarians, #1)Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two groups and one big problem. I loved the start of this series. The males are trying something underhanded and it is catching up with them. Turns out they do have a conscious. The females are one the. up and up and their interaction with the male groups is causing changes. Great characters, a to of tension, some romance, and a lot of danger. Look for some unexpected things show up. One problem solved but more out in the wind.

Right elements

Storm Of Eon (Eon Warriors #7)Storm Of Eon by Anna Hackett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Has all the right elements. Two who do not have time for love but guess what it happens anyway. There is danger and tension as the story plays out. Earth is safe from large invasions but small groups can get through. Fun story to read and one danger left unsolved.
