New Series

Architects of Memory (The Memory War, #1)Architects of Memory by Karen Osborne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This starts one way and near the ends becomes something else. Look for danger and tension as the book begins. A salvage crew bites off more than they can chew and have to work very hard to survive. then the story changes to saving humanity from weapons of really mass destruction plus changing how humans and aliens interact. Interesting but different. It kept me reading but the change left me feeling a little lost.

received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Moving Forward

Murder in the East End (Kat Holloway Mysteries #4)Murder in the East End by Jennifer Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not all is has it seems in the latest Kat Holloway Mystery. Children are missing and a new character arrives to bedevil both Kat and Daniel. The plot moves smoothly as Kat and Daniel work together but stay apart. On the plus side their relations also moves forward as we learn more about Daniel's past. Great addition.

is There a Set Up

Debt of Loyalty (The Embers of War #2)Debt of Loyalty by Christopher G. Nuttall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kat is back and with her return so do the problems. There are enough space battles for any military science fiction fan. Look for friends to be on separate sides. The readers get to follow the important characters on both sides. There is tension and betrayal as the battle for control pushes on. I think someone is being set up but will have to wait for the next book to know for sure

Surprise, Surprise

Chaos Reigning (Consortium Rebellion, #3)Chaos Reigning by Jessie Mihalik
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everyone misjudges Cat but that is about to end. In this last book Cat has to battle what others think about her and the danger everyone is in. I loved how she just took charge, made a plan and followed through. There is tension, betrayal, romance all wrapped up in a fun plot. Look for Cat to make some interesting discoveries as the story progresses.

A Good Ending

Weapons Master (Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone #6)Weapons Master by Anna Hackett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

With this one we say good by to Cyborgs of the House of Roan but we do leave with a good story and a look at characters who may be featured in a new series. Bellamy and Maxon are a great addition to the characters featured in the series. She is chatty and funny. He is a big grump. Somehow they just fit but not until there is danger and plenty of tension. You can start here but better if you read from the first.

New Series

Chameleon (Alien Castaways, #1)Chameleon by Cara Bristol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great introduction a new series. Kevanne and Chameleon are both interesting characters. Kevanne sees a falling star and Chameleon is in the ship that looks like a falling star. There are plenty of mix-ups as the two meet at the local diner as when chameleon applies to be her handyman. In the end both have to trust in what they find in the other. A surprise ending and a set up for the rest of the individuals on the ship to find their HEA.

Slow Burn

Stages of the HeartStages of the Heart by Jo Goodman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Jo Goodman's books and Stages of the Heart is no exception. Laurel and Call are no such great characters. The danger is slow building and resolved in a very satisfactory way. Like the danger the romance is slow building as well. Love just sneaks up on both and we leave the two in a very good place. Great standalone story.

Fills In Some Unknown Facts

Hearts and Stones (Celta HeartMate)Hearts and Stones by Robin D. Owens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Several of the stories in Hearts and Stones fill in holes left as the series has progressed. I enjoyed those. I was worried I would be lost as I have missed reading the later books in the series but I had no trouble with the stories or the characters. Seems I remember them all. The first story was my favorite. It is set on Earth at the time the starships were loading and leaving for Celta. I loved the main character and her cat but was left wondering what happened to the people left on Earth. There seems to be a lot of untold stories there.

Predictable But Fun

The Friendship ListThe Friendship List by Susan Mallery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Easy to know what is going to happen but still a nice read. The two friends are sometimes funny and sometimes sad. It is the men who want more and the women who resist. Some nice side action to add to the appeal.

Many Secrets

High Flyer (Verdant String, #4)High Flyer by Michelle Diener
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series. Each book can be read as a standalone but please read them all. Hana has a secret and Iver Sugotti has a thing for Hana. Both come together when they are on the run for their lives. Lots of secrets and plenty of action. There is a solution to the problem but there is a loose end that could be an intro to another book in the series. Hana and Iver are both great characters with an exciting story line.
