Lots of Info, Not much Resolution

Quantum (Captain Chase #1)Quantum by Patricia Cornwell
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There is a lot of information as this story progresses. Also several flash back to add to the backstop. All said this left me wondering what was going. This just seemed to set the stage for future books. I don't think I will continue this new series. Too much information, too little answers.

Nice Start

Country Strong (Painted Pony Creek #1)Country Strong by Linda Lael Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Welcome to Painted Pony Creek where some very interesting characters live. Start with the one who shows up looking to find her three dads. Then there are the dads. Add another blast from the past and you have quite a mix. There was a lot of action in this first book of the series. At times the book seemed a little slow and I would thing everything was solved but then another problem would find its solution. All in all good start to a new series with 2 of the dads left to find an HEA.

New and Fresh

Murder on Pleasant Avenue (A Gaslight Mystery)Murder on Pleasant Avenue by Victoria Thompson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great seeing everyone again. Once again one of their own is in trouble. I did wonder who done it. I also know one character was not what she seemed. The story includes a lot of historical information woven into the setting and the plot. This series is holding its own with new and interesting characters and plots.

No long pages of sex here. Instead just some hot kisses. Much more satfying in the long run. Julia, Olivia and Caitlin have very complicated relationships and thing keep coming to a head as secrets are revealed and relationships redefined. Great story with interesting characters, beautiful setting and of course a lot of romance.

A Honest Review

MalfunctionMalfunction by Nina Croft
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What fun. I love Rico, he is one of my all time favorite characters. This is Rico before the Dark Desires series. He is not the main character in Malfunction but he is already snarky. There is trouble in the fleet fleeing Earth. 500 years have passed and suddenly a series of deaths occur in the cryo tubes. Are thy murder or are they malfunction? That is what Sergeant Logan Farrell and Katia Mendoza, hot-shot homicide detective have to find out. Seems simple but someone does not want them to succeed. Great story and set up for future books set in the time line. I received a free copy of the book from the author.

Like the Novella, Short and Sweet

Sweep with Me (Innkeeper Chronicles, #4.5)Sweep with Me by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A interesting addition to the Innkeeper Chronicles. Dina Demille and Sean Evans have more on their plate than usual. Tready Days are here and all guests must be accepted. This is where it get interesting. The guest come in all sizes and shapes and must are very dangerous. At the same time one member of the staff has a break down. Dina pulls out all the stops to keep everyone safe and fairly happy. Novella length so this is a quick and easy read. It can stand alone but is more fun if you have read the previous books in the series.

Short Review for a Pleasant Read.

Nameless QueenNameless Queen by Rebecca McLaughlin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found this to be a pleasant read. It had all the danger and tension you expect from the familiar plot. Unknow becomes Queen and must try to stay alive while also protecting the ones around her. There were enough twists to keep it from being redundant. The characters were interesting and Coin, the main character was a mass of contradictions. Her thoughts and action were interesting in themselves without the added problem of being the new nameless queen. Seems that the nameless were a class of people at the bottom of the social ladder. Fun to read and even as problems were solved some got away so I think we will see this queen again.

Not My Favorite

Resurgence (Foreigner #20)Resurgence by C.J. Cherryh
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Book twenty in the Foreigner series is only for long term fans. You would think that after 19 previous books the world building would be done but no. Much of this brings up the history of the clans and the present danger. What it does not do is solve anything. I came to the last page and could not believe that the book was done. This is a set up for the next book but not a complete story in its self. As a long term fan I will be waiting the next book and not give up on the series just because this on was so slow and tedious to read.

Predictable

The Christmas PactThe Christmas Pact by Vi Keeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A cute story that is easy to predict. Riley Kennedy’ and Kennedy Riley are natural enemies. That is until they are not. Fun to listen too and Andi Arndt, and Sebastian York do a very good job with the narration. Just 2 hours +long an easy listen. This was one of the free audible books in Dec.

Great Series

Mark of Eon (Eon Warriors, #5)Mark of Eon by Anna Hackett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two more bite the dust as in they are mates. This is a unusual pair. The tough marine and the dedicated doctor. They should not be a match but the more they are together the closer they fit. There is the usual danger, tension and misunderstanding to keep the plot moving. A nice set up for the next book as two new characters arrive on the scene. So much romance in such a interesting world,
