Guardian Mate: A Starhawke Sci-Fi Romance by Audrey Sharpe

Brendan and Libra are important characters in the Starhawke series. They show up with some back story but nothing that tells how they met. Guardian Mate tells that story. It is part serious and part fun. This part of their story ends with the Mating Ceremony. Knowing what I know now I need to go back and re-visit their actions in the main line books. Great addition to the series. Waiting for the next book so Audrey you need to keep writing.

The Legacy of Tomorrow by Audrey Sharpe

We learn a lot more about Aurora in book 4. There is additional world building, character development and characters we see for the first time. The plot brings everyone together as the book ends. Nothing is solved but much is revealed. Now all I need is the next book in the series. Keep writing Audrey.

This time Aurora Hawke finds out that often you really do not want to know what people are keeping from you. While trying to find Admiral Schreiber she runs into parts of her past that have always been hidden. Many things come to light and most do not leave Aurora very happy. Book three is more about revealing all the people who kept information from Aurora than getting to a happy conclusion. In fact with all that comes to light the story ends with answers that bring more questions. While there is a conclusion to the series there is also an introduction to the first book in a new trilogy. I was left wondering where Aurora would go and what would happen to her next.

Stars Uncharted by S.K. Dunstall

This one opens up an entire new world for S. K. Dunstall to have fun and play with. I loved their Linesman series and could not wait to see what they came up with next. What they did is an entirely new world with characters who have a very different backstory. There are no lines or linesman just an rip roaring adventure filled with tension and danger. Captain Hammond Roystan is older than he looks and more than he seems. Josune Arriola was on a very different mission that has left her out in the cold. Nika Rik Terri is running from an abusive lover and a dangerous client. Together they make up a very unusual group trying to keep ahead of their enemies and stay alive. They are joined by interesting side characters who also help keep the story moving. Just a note; Nika Rik Terri is a body-modification artist, something that adds a interesting twist to all the characters and action.

Saga, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan

I read Saga Vol. 1 for my Science Fiction Book Club and liked it enough to see if my local library had the other volumes. They did so I checked out Vol. 2. This was mostly backstory and really added to the story line in Vol. 1. It did a very good job of catching my attention. I love how the graphics add so much to the story. The illustrator and the author must have to work very closely to get that kind of result.


The Chains of Freedom by Audrey Sharpe

I loved The Dark of Night and said that it was very well written. Because of that the bar was very high for The Chains of Freedom, the second book. Well, Sharpe had no trouble clearing that bar. Like many second books The Chains of Freedom sets up the next hurdle for the Starhawke and her crew. The romance in the book is brought fully into the light but there is something that Aurora does not know about her long time friend and his family. Everything is not what it seemed even at the beginning. The search for a home world for the three hundred refugees recently freed was successful so one of the problems left from the first book was solved but new problems were revealed. The character development, plot, and world building continued to be first rate. Now I just have to wait for the next book in the series. There are secrets that look like they will be devastating to Aurora and the bar and expectations are still high.

This is a must read for fans of Science Fiction Romance.

 Saga, Vol. 3 by Brian K. Vaughan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vol. 3 was missing at the library. It is way overdue so someone took and kept so I had to buy. This one is more about the people pursuing our couple. The story is still told by the little girl but I see trouble ahead for our mismatched couple.
