Short and Sweet Book Reviews #151 - Wrangler's Challenge by Lindsay McKenna, The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls by Donna Kauffman, Discovering Miss Dalrymple by Emily Larkin

Wrangler's Challenge (Wind River Valley #4)Wrangler's Challenge by Lindsay McKenna
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I always look forward to the next Wind River Valley book. This time the new vet is Dair Wilson whose job in the military was handling a WMD dog as part of a team. When a IED went off she lost part of her leg and her foot. She needs a job and a place to stay and the ranch at Wind River Valley is the perfect place. Not only does she have a job she works with Noah Mabry. Noah has just the right touch to bring Dair out of her shell and into a world where she can trust men for the first time. This is a nice sweet story with some tension. I loved how Noah seemed to get just how to deal with Dair and all of her insecurities. There is still Shaylene's angry father to deal with but that seems to be on the road to closure. A nice series that features vets who have seen the unseeable and are suffering from PTSD as a result.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

The Inn at Blue Hollow FallsThe Inn at Blue Hollow Falls by Donna Kauffman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stevie Franklin has come over Christmas to help at that beautiful old greenhouse. Turns out we see more of the Inn at Blue Hollow Falls than we do the greenhouse. Noah Tyler is the innkeeper and he and Stevie click from the very beginning. When the snow comes down and the power goes out Stevie does not sit around, she helps. I loved watching the attraction between Stevie and Noah develop. They both knew it was something special and they needed take a chance and explore their feeling. Great scenes and interesting characters abound in the story. I loved the way the story worked out.

Discovering Miss Dalrymple (Baleful Godmother, #6)Discovering Miss Dalrymple by Emily Larkin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Baleful Godmother has come and gone almost a year ago and Georgiana asked for the ability to find things. She found what happened to her fiancĂ©e several years ago and she is now ready to move forward with her life. Georgiana is a great character. She is generous and loving and hoping that Alexander St Clare, Duke of Vickery turns her love. That goes on a very different track when Alexander asks her to find out where he was when he was stolen as a child years ago. Alexander is torn when he learns both the answer and the gift Georgiana got from her godmother. This one is a little different. The focus is not on Georgiana, it is on Alexander and his struggle to find the balance between who he though he was and who he really is. A very nice addition to the story line. The change in focus helps keep the series fresh and new.  The book comes out Oc 27.  I could not wait to read and started it as soon as I got it downloaded.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Short and Sweet Book Reviews #101 - White Hot by Ilona Andrews, Wildfire by Ilona Andrews, Ruining Miss Wortham by Emily Larkin

White Hot (Hidden Legacy, #2)White Hot by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nevada and Rogan are back again and trouble seems to follow where ever they go. I really love this series. Part of the fun is the location. It is Houston, TX where some things are the same and some are very different. Magic changes everything and both Rogan and Nevada are very powerful magic users. Rogan's magic is known but Nevada's magic has been hidden for her own protection. Now things are changing and Nevada is becoming a very valuable commodity. I love the tension between Rogan and Nevada. Rogan is such a great character and the lines between he and the other characters are priceless. Many bring on a very good laugh. Start with Burn for Me and continue on with White Hot for a fun and tension filled story.

Wildfire (Hidden Legacy, #3)Wildfire by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wildfire takes readers back to the Houston where magic is a part of life. Rogan and Nevada are in great danger. Some of the danger comes from known sources but the worse comes from an unknown source. There are some added elements in Wildfire. Nevada and Rogan are still draw together. Nevada will do anything to protect her family and makes a life changing decision. Some of the issues are solved but they still have a large part of the danger hanging over them as the book ends. This is a fun series with great characters, tension filled action and a plot that keeps the story moving.

Ruining Miss Wrotham (Baleful Godmother, #5)Ruining Miss Wrotham by Emily Larkin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What would you do for family? Eleanor Wroth will do whatever she must. First she breaks away from her overbearing family. Then she faces ruin by traveling with Mordecai, the illegitimate son of an earl. Eleanor is another one who has a baleful Godmother. Her wish comes on her 23rd birthday and it cannot come too soon. While she waits she searches but things do not work out as she wants. Just as she feels she will find her sister life interfere and her wish changes. I love this series and the two main characters this time are both interesting and fun. I will pulling for Mordecai from the beginning and wanted to shake Eleanor when she misreads so much that he is doing for her. This can stand alone but for more fun read the first books in the series.
