Wedding at Cardwell Ranch by B. J. Daniels

Romantic Thriller

From Goodreads:

The highly anticipated continuation of the Cardwell Ranch Collection, read by more than 2 MILLION!

Jackson Cardwell won't stop until she is safe.

In Montana for his brother's nuptials, Jackson Cardwell isn't looking to be anybody's hero. But the Texas single father knows a beautiful lady in distress when he meets her. Someone's hell-bent on making Allie Taylor think she's losing her mind. Jackson's determined to unmask the perp...and guard the widowed wedding planner and her little girl with his life.

Allie has no idea who wants to harm her and take her daughter away. The truth is even more shocking. For Allie's past has stalked her to Cardwell Ranch. And not even the sexy cowboy who awakens irresistible passion may be able to save her from a killer with a chilling agenda.

Slowly but surely the Cardwell Cousins are moving from Texas to Montana. Jackson Cardwell had a terrible marriage and an even worse divorce. He does have one good thing from his marriage and that is his son Ford. It is one reason he can identify with Allie, a young widow with a daughter.  For the Cardwell’s it is all about family.  Allie is all about family too but unfortunately she married into the wrong one.  Someone is trying to make her think she is crazy so they can take her daughter.  She does not know who to trust but Jackson soon becomes her knight in shining armor.  Once again there is a woman in danger and a Cardwell coming to the rescue.  There were quite a few twists and turns and like Allie I often did not know what to believe. The wedding in the book - It is Tag’s and Allie is the wedding planner.  Now there are three of the Cardwell Cousins in Montana. I wonder what B. J. Daniels has planned for those two.

Rescue at Cardwell Ranch & Wanted Woman (Cardwell Ranch #5) by B.J. Daniels

Mystery/Thriller

From Goodreads:

Meet the Cardwell Cousins, the highly anticipated continuation of the Cardwell Ranch collection read by more than 2 MILLION!

Saving her once was risky. Rescuing her again may be fatal.

In Rescue From Cardwell Ranch , when Hayes Cardwell arrived in Big Sky, Montana, for his brother's wedding, the Texas P.I. didn't expect to play hero, but ever since he saved her from a brutal abductor, he can't get McKenzie Sheldon out of his mind and heart.

McKenzie was drawn to Hayes from the moment she awoke and saw the tall, dark cowboy who'd saved her like some Western fantasy. But can he protect her from a danger that's much closer than they think?

In the reader-favorite Wanted Woman , Maggie Randolph was searching for something and running from someone. But she didn't plan on meeting a man she could trust. Except Timber Falls Deputy Sheriff Jesse Tanner had to catch her before it was too late.

I tried my first B.J. Daniels story a year ago and was immediately hooked.  Rescue From Cardwell Ranch brings another Cardwell brother to Montana.  Hayes Cardwell and McKenzie Sheldon are two very driven characters.  Neither expects romance or the danger that bring them together.  I loved how both had to change their perceptions and how smoothly those changes helped bring them together.

B.J. Daniels has written another heart stopping story that kept me guessing the entire time.  I loved how both Texas and Montana were part of the story line.  We now have two Cardwell bothers with a HEA.  I have to wonder what kind of exciting adventures Daniels has in story for the others.

I enjoyed Wanted Woman.  Like Rescue At Cardwell Ranch it had great main characters and a plot full of tension.

Christmas At Cardwell Ranch by B. J. Daniels

Christmas at Cardwell Ranch - B.J. DanielsMystery and Romance

What Goodreads Says:

"AT CARDWELL RANCH, THE HOLIDAYS CAN BE BRUTAL...
It had been years since Tanner "Tag" Cardwell's boots touched Montana soil. This Christmas he was determined to change that. Until a run-in with local Lily McCabe revealed dark secrets from his past and deep trouble for his future.

Cowboys came and went in these parts. But Tag Cardwell caught Lily off guard in more ways than one when the two became entwined in a murder mystery. What was it about Tag? The dreamy eyes... The rugged physique... The protection she felt in his strong arms...

But before they could lose themselves in each other they had to trace a killer. Or risk finding a crime scene under the Christmas tree."

This is a short fast exciting Harlequin Intrigue book featuring some interesting characters.  Other books have been set on the Cardwell Ranch and some of the characters are reoccurring.  There are mentions of past stories while new characters become the feature and some old ones play big part in the drama.  This is the first Cardwell Ranch book I have read and I had no trouble reading this as a stand alone.

“Tag” and Lily are both strong characters.  They both become part of the mystery and the danger is what draws them together.  Tag’s father and uncle play an unexpected part in the story.  Even though Tag thinks that his father is just a beer drinking, guitar playing no account he still shows up at Christmas hoping to get to know him better.  What he learns is that his Father has an interesting past that is at odds with his public appearance.  Other characters are also not what they seem and they add to the danger.

The drama and intrigue play out very fast.  Neither the reader or the characters have time to draw a breath before more danger is added to the mix.  Pick this one up if you like your mystery and romance to move at a fast pace.  While the book is not long the story is so well written and well developed that I never felt that anything was rushed or anything important was left out.
