First in a new series, I Am Justice takes you are a wild ride through the Middle East, the US and Mexico. Justice is just one of a group of female vigilante assassins. She comes with some very strong talents and a gift for going off plan. This time she involves Sandesh Ross, a former special services officer who just wants to leave danger and war behind. I loved the concept. Justice and her group are unique and each has special talents. Sandesh is as strong a character as Justice and manages to fit in with all the strong women. While they go after human traffickers they also have to face betrayal from people they trust. A interesting start to a new series.

Nicole Lee does not have much of a life until she ends up on a alien star ship. Seems she is a Sibyl and can hear what repairs the ship needs. Then she becomes involved in a war between two other species and her life changes again. Nicole is a great character who changes as events come into her life. While she starts out as a street child she ends up with a job that can change the lives of all around her. This has interesting world building and character development. The backstory is woven into the book without changing the flow. This is book one in Sibyl's War and it sets the stage for the next two books. I could be a little slow at time and it kept me guessing on what was really happening and where the story was going. Joel Richards did a really ourstanding job on the various characters and keeping the pace of the story moving.

Caleb groaned and flipped over on his hard, motel mattress. Seconds later he flipped the other way. He had known he wouldn’t sleep before he ever even lay down.  Sighing, he turned on the bedside lamp and sat up.

Melissa, the woman who was on maternity leave, would come back to the clinic in four weeks time. That’s when his temporary job with Aria would end, and he didn’t want it to end. As ridiculous as it sounded, he had fallen hard for Aria De Luca. Having her in his arms tonight had been the sweetest form of torture he could imagine, but he liked more than just Aria’s looks. He liked her kind heart and the way she treated the animals just as much.

Scrambling to his feet, he left his room and went to the vending machines outside his door to buy a pack of crackers. Just because the doc was a kind woman didn’t mean he was anything more to her than an employee. All he’d seen in her eyes tonight was pleasure over a nice evening dancing and talking to friends.

It was better that way. Even if she did feel the same way he did, what could he offer her? He didn’t have a penny to his name or any prospects for the future. Besides that, her daddy didn’t like him.

Winged Victory (Winged Victory #1) by L.F. Hampton

Science Fiction Romance

The plot of Winged Victory is fairly predictable but Hampton puts some twists in that kept it interesting.  I loved the take on vampires.  Who would have thought they looked like beautiful winged angels.  When Traveen and Abby crash on a ice world Traveen makes a decision that changes everything.  There is a lot of tension and danger for both Abby and Traveen before they get to their HEA.  This is book one of a new series but some of the characters seemed to have a back-story from a previous series that would also be fun to read.

Split the Sun (Inherit the Stars #2) by Tessa Elwood

Science Fiction/YA Science Fiction

Kit has enough going to take down anyone. When she decides to end it all someone stops her.  From there she had a very confusing set of events that lead to a great conclusion.  Kit even seems to get a happy ending.  This is YA but I think anyone who likes a complex story line and great characters will love the book.  This is part of a series but works very well as a stand alone.

Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krantz

Romantic Suspense

Secret Sisters is Jayne Ann Krantz at her best.  There is a lot of tension, a great back-story, and an intricate plot.  It is very hard to tell who is the good guy and who is the bad.  Turns out there are a lot of bad guys.  Each has their own unique agenda and Madeline, Daphne, Jack Rayner and his bother Abe are all busy trying to sort them out.  A great story that is very hard to put down.  I did not know exactly who was doing what until the end.
