Thunderstruck by Vicki Lewis Thompson

Contemporary Western Romance

What Goodreads says:

The lone cowboy

Damon Harrison never gets too involved. A cowboy at heart, Damon has turned his commitment phobia into a living flipping houses. The only exceptions to that rule? His foster family at Thunder Mountain Ranch. And now those exceptions have talked Damon into working on a new project with a carpenter named Phil.

Only, Phil is a nickname for Philomena Turner. She has a wicked way with carpentry and an even wickeder way of turning Damon's head. And the chemistry is like a lightning bolt of lust. But Phil wants a family and a home, and no hotshot cowboy even a tantalizingly sexy one will change that. All she can steal are a few nights of sizzling passion before she has to set this lone cowboy free.

I love this spinoff from Lewis’s previous series.  Damon Harrison is one of the foster sons of Thunder Mountain Ranch.  He is back to help save the ranch and get more than he expected.  Damon is a great character.  He thinks he is happy and does not need others.  His foster mother is out to prove him wrong.

Philomena Turner goes by Phil and is about to met and help Damon build a log cabin.  She is a match for Damon in more ways than one.  I what really loved was her strength.  She did what was best for her even as it broke her heart.  Thank heavens it did not take Damon long to realize alone was not what he really wanted.

This is a fun series with great characters.  There is still a lot to do to save the ranch and there are more characters who are connected to the ranch.  That means more stories and that makes me very happy.

Midnight Thunder (Thunder Mountain Brotherhood #1) by Vicki Lewis Thompson

Contemporary Western Romance

What GoodReads Says:

 The lost cowboy…

Thunder Mountain Ranch was the only place cowboy Cade Gallagher had ever called home. But after he and Lexi Simmons broke each other's hearts, he left it behind, along with his foster family. Since then, Cade has drifted, looking for something—anything—to call home. Until a call from Lexi changes everything…

Cade has been gone too long. His foster mother is hospitalized, and the ranch is in deep financial trouble. Yet even as his world crumbles, Cade's hunger for Lexi is almost as tangible as the taste of her lips and the way her body fits deliciously against his. It's bittersweet surrender. But Lexi isn't the girl she used to be, and she's determined to have the hot cowboy in her bed only if she keeps him out of her heart.

We learned about Cade Gallager in the Last Chance series when Molly went to look for her long lost cousin.  Now we get to meet not only Cade but the other two men of the Thunder Mountain Brotherhood, Damon  Harrison and Finn O’Roake.  This is Cade’s story but Fin and Damon will each have their turn.

The series is an arc with Rosie and Herb, the boy’s foster family at the heart of the story line.

Cade’s first love is Lexi and he has never gotten over her even if he was the one to break it off and leave.  Now he is back home and they are reconnecting.  This time it is Lexi who holds back. Midnight Thunder is a story about finding your strengths and your way in life.  It is a very good read. Now I just have to wait for the next too books to see how everything turns out.

My favorite character is Ringo the cat.  I don’t know if Ringo won a contest to be included but if he did Thompson makes sure he gets star billing in the book.
