The Librarian and the Spy by Susan MannMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
First in a new series The Librarian and the Spy features some great characters. Quinn Ellington and James Lockwood connect from the very first meeting. Quinn is a reference librarian and James is not who he says he is. Mann does a great job plotting how the two go from help with reference questions to on the run for their lives. I loved the action. An extra plus was using the skills a librarian uses every day to solve the mystery of the missing weapons.
Silver Silence by Nalini SinghMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
Silver Silence start off with a bang. Valentin Nikolaev is a bear shifter. Silence Merchant is part of a large family of Psy and is silent. We meet them on the first pages when Valentin arrived at Silence's door and has once again bypassed building security. I loved the start and through Singh delivered a winner. Unfortunately that feeling did not last. For me the story started to slow down and drag. While Silence and Valentine are very good characters the path to their relationship got old. Silver Silence does set up the characters, background and danger in this the first book in the new Psy-Changeling series. I do hope that the next books are a little more fast paced. This time I just felt that I had to read and read trying to get to the meat of the story.
His Country Bride by Debra HoltMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
A nice twist on the runaway bride theme. Ellie and Lucas meet when she is burning her wedding dress. Ellie is a city girl and Lucas is the sheriff who does not trust city girls. Of course sparks are flying from day one. It turns out Ellie is in danger and Lucas has to do his duty to protect her. A fun look at how duty and love can get all mixed up.
