Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include include the title and author so others know what you're reading.
I'm reading The Clone Redemption by Steven L. Kent. It is part of a Military Science Fiction Series and has been on my TBR shelf for several months. Here is the opening line:
"If this is supposed to be our funeral, I'm not impressed," Chief Petty Officer Robert Humble whispered to the clone standing next to him."
Here is what Goodreads says about the book:
Earth, 2516 A.D.: The Unified Authority has spread human colonies across the Milky Way, keeping strict order with a powerful military made up almost entirely of clones. But now the clones have formed their own empire, and they aim to keep it...no matter who they must defeat.

That's a very solid first line. I like it a lot!
Yes, that opening line certainly got my attention! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Hmmmmmm . . . clones. Probably not my cup of tea. Although, if they make it into a movie, I guarantee that my husband would watch it as soon as I went out of town.
Thanks for participating in Book Beginnings!
Clones are not my cup of tea either, although that opening line is certainly interesting. It made me think of the Doctor Who series Rebel Flesh, which I did enjoy. It's been years since I read any science fiction - maybe I should.
Neither clones nor military sci-fi are my favourite topics/genre but I like the first line. Makes you want to know what is going on.
awesome beginning! :)
thanks for coming by my blog. happy easter!
Sci-Fi is not my cup of tea but the first sentence is quite tantalizing. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Hi Jo,
Science fiction is definitely my genre of choice, so this isn't a book that I will be rushing out to buy. However, I do love those opening lines and I might be tempted to turn a page or two, just to find out what happens next!!
Thanks for sharing and I hope that you enjoy your book.
