Not your usual hero and not your usual ending. Ruby and Nick have been around before. Nick is the gargoyle who caused Trixie to fall and die only to become a vampire. Ruby is Trixie's sister. The two should not be a pair but surprise, surprise they are. Of course their relationship does not come trouble free. Look for a charm, a tension filled trip and a surprise ending. I loved Nick. He would be perfect for anyone and certainly was perfect for Ruby.

This has it all. A failed mission, a unexpected trip, and unexpected danger. I loved the action and am hooked on the series. The new colony has some unexpected problems and several unexpected colonist. Connor is one of the unexpected colonist but turns out they really needed him as they need a military presence. This has great characters, interesting world building and a plot that screams danger, danger, danger. I am hooked on the series and have already started book two. Scott Aiello does a great job with the narration. He gives just the right tone to the dialog.
