Musing Mondays (November 7, 2011)

This week’s musing asks…
Other than for school, do you read books to learn how to do something? What was/were the topic(s)?

You can find each weeks question at Should Be Reading.

I read a lot of fiction but if I need to know more about a subject then I look for books that will help.  I do a lot of gardening and have a large gardening library.  I used to do a lot of cooking and until recently I had a large cookbook collection.  That went to a my local library's used book store .  I am retired and love to travel so I buy or check out books to get information before I visit.    I read a lot of historical fiction and I like to read nonfiction to see how accurately the author uses the historical background.  Occasionally I do review a nonfiction book on my blog.

cookbooks and gardening books are a good choice. I like the historical fiction better than the real stuff.

Yes, reading about the places you go before travelling is a great idea :)
