When We Met (Fool’s Gold #13) and Before We Kiss (Fool's Gold #14) by Susan Mallery

Contemporary Romance

When We Met from Goodreads:

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery invites you back to Fool's Gold, where a newcomer to town might finally meet the man she never knew she needed…

Angel Whittaker earned his scars the hard way, but the scars that can't be seen are the ones that haunt him the most. Since he moved to Fool's Gold, California, he's cobbled together a life for himself as a bodyguard trainer. If he's not exactly happy, at least his heart is safe.

Working with pro-football superstars taught tough-talking PR woman Taryn Crawford one thing—she can go toe to toe with any man. But then dark, dangerous former Special Ops Angel targets her for seduction…and challenges her to resist his tempting kisses.

Even in four-inch heels, Taryn never backs down. Unless, somehow, Angel can convince her that surrender might feel even better than victory.

I have become invested in Fool’s Gold and always look forward to the next book.  When We Met is Angel and Taryn’s story.  Both are very strong characters and it was fun seeing them get together.  Some of the other favorites also show up in the story so there is a chance to find out how they are doing.

Angel still grieves his wife and son lost in a car crash.  Taryn had a Mother who left her with a Father who was abusive.  She has trust issues and Angel has to turn loose of the past.  It takes a group of young girls to bring about the change in both.  Look for some laughs when Angel finds he has volunteered to lead a group of very young girls.  The finish is not a surprise.  Taryn says I love you and like all the males in the previous books Angel runs.  Of course he realizes his mistake and they have their HEA.

Before We Kiss from Goodreads:

New York Times bestselling sensation Susan Mallery returns to Fool's Gold, California, where it's true that sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs…

Former pro-football kicker Sam Ridge has notoriously bad luck with women—from cheaters to fame chasers. Still, the gorgeous brunette at the bar in Fool's Gold looks harmless—until she takes him home and he discovers a room devoted to securing a man, for life.

Dellina Hopkins never guessed that storing gowns from a friend's bridal boutique would chase away her first and only fling. After her parents died, she skipped her "wild youth" to raise her sisters. She doesn't want forever from Sam, but one night—all night—would've been nice.

His clean getaway gets messy when his firm hires Dellina to plan an event. As long hours lead to late nights, the two succumb to temptation again. Has Sam's luck finally changed? Or this time, will Dellina be the one to run?

I really liked Sam and Dellina’s story.  The background is in When We Met so if you want the story of their first meeting be sure to read it first.  Their relationship starts out with a scene that made me laugh and that humor just keep going.

Sam just knows that any relationship he has will go wrong.  Dellina thinks that she does not need a relationship.  After all she raised her sisters after her parents died.  Then they are thrown together when Dellina is hired to put on event for Sam’s company.  What makes this on so much fun are Sam’s parents.  They are sex experts and know no boundaries.  I challenge you to read any of the scenes where they are present and keep for laughing.  Of course Sam runs when Dellina says I love you and has to find a way to prove that he returns that love.

Harlequin Mira published  When We Met (April 29) and Before We Kiss (May 27) by Susan Mallery in 2014.

I received an ARC of both books from Netgalley.
