Musing Mondays (Dec.10)

MusingMondays5This week’s musing, courtesy of “iamciska.tumbler.com“, asks…
What was the last book you could not finish and why?

I have an ARC from Amazon Vine that I just cannot finish.  It is fantasy with good worldbuilding and characters.  I can say that on an intellectual level but on an emotional level it just leaves me cold.  I really hate this because to keep you membership active Vine wants you to review 80% of books or products you get.  There is another reason related to this book.  All the  reviews already posted are 5 stars.  I hate to be the one that is not.

It's tough to feel like I have to finish a book I'm not enjoying.

That can be such a sticky situation. If you couldn't finish it though I would leave your honest review maybe others have felt like you too and just not posted?

I used to check out others ratings before I rate a book, now I don't. That's a sticky one ...thanks for stopping by my blog.

I know what it's like to read an ARC and not like it all, but feel like you have to review it. That's definitely a tough situation. =(
Thanks for stopping by my MM.

when anything get all 5 stars, I get suspicious. especially when you look at their history and it is their only review.

I don't think you should let that stop you from reviewing it, as long as you read enough to give a useful review :)

Fantasy is one genre that I am having a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone to read. Thank you for stopping by. Love your blog!

I don't even put faith in most of the Amazon reviews. I use to, but after I read a few books where everyone gave them 5 star reviews, and I read the books and gave them 2 stars, I wonder if we read the same books.

Thanks for the visit today.

Its always tricky when you don't like a book and others rate it high. I've read books before because of peer pressure and its torture!

It's a little intimidating to post a bad review when everyone is saying the book is great. But I think that shouldn't stop you from posting it, because what you thought of the book may help other people with the same tastes as you.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm following you by GFC :)

I tried to read a young adult book that the blogs were raving about. I simply could not sympathize enough with the young adult attitude. Also, there was just too much explanation of the fantasy world, which slowed things down.

i am in the same situation currently with a book i feel i should read to the end to review honestly but am unable to move on forward.. i think i will most likely say i could not finish....but i understand.. and looking at other opposing reviews has confused me in the past.. am trying to avoid that

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog!

If you hate it you hate it. I’m sure all the other 5 star reviews are not more valuable than your honest opinion. :-)

That's hard because you probably have to finish it but you just don't want to, what do you do. Those fantasy books can be tricky. Thanks for stopping by yesterday!

I had that a couple of times! Not liking a book at all and then checking the reviews and seeing it's all 4+, it really makes me feel like I missed something!

Thanks for stopping by my post.

Wow, that's not a good feeling, having to finish and review books whether you like them or not. But then, I try mostly to read for pleasure and only review books now if they really impress me. I just don't have the time, otherwise.

Thanks for stopping by my musing earlier!
