Short and Sweet Book Reviews # 116 - Some Kind of Hero by Suzanne Brockmann, Impersonations by Walter Jon Williams, Orphans in the Black by Various Authors

Some Kind of Hero (Troubleshooters, #17)Some Kind of Hero by Suzanne Brockmann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shayla Whitman is everything Lieutenant Peter Greene wants in a woman. She is smart, funny, and able to keep him on track when Maddie, his fifteen year old daughter disappears. I loved this book. Pete is a great hero and Shayla is perfect as his side kick. While Maddie does everything wrong when trouble arrives both Pete and Shayla manage to not only keep up but bring a team into play to help. A great addition to the series. The story line is full of tension and the characters fit the action to a tee.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Caroline Sula is back. She played a part in the Dread Empire's Fall winning an important battle, one that did not make her superiors happy so she has been sent to a dead end assignment on Earth. Looking forward to seeing Earth history instead she finds herself in danger from both the past and the present. This is tension filled with action and interesting characters. Sula is not that nice a character but she really keeps the story going. I enjoyed seeing her again and watching her outsmart the opposition. Look for a surprise ending. She came out ahead on more than one count.

I picked this up after seeing it in a email from Michelle Diener. I love her Science Fiction books and was not disappointed in her story. Interference is one of the longer stories in the collection and is novella length. Her world building, back story and character development were first rate. I really hope she uses this in a novel length story. There are 19 stories in all and I saw several by author I already knew and liked. After I read Stowaway ~ by Anthea Sharp she went on my favorites list. There is something for everyone in this collection. While I have not read the entire collection I have yet to find a story I did not like.
