Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Gilion at Rose City Reader. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.
I have no self-control where books are concerned. I went to the library Thursday to return 4 books and promised myself I would not even go in - I would just drop the books in the drive-thru book drop. But of course I found an excuse to go in and I checked out 5 more books. One is Storm Front (A Derrick Storm Thriller) by Richard Castle. I love the show on ABC but have never read one of the book so I decided I would give it a chance. Here is the beginning:
"Venice, Italy
The gondolier could only be described as ruggedly handsome, with dark hair and eyes, a square jaw, and muscles toned from his daily exertions at the oar."
I can't say that this catches me but I will read a little further to give it a chance.
